There's something about a weekend that sparks creativity.
For most of us, it's a stretch of uninterrupted free time when we can explore ideas and embark on new projects.
And if the project is not too big or complex, we might even wind up with a beautiful finished project come Sunday night.
Therein lies the magic of "Weekend Handmade" - every project in it can be completed in a few hours or over the course of a weekend.
This book showcases projects that average craft dabblers (without any advanced skills in a particular genre) can complete successfully.
The projects are divided into three chapters - Make (paper and textile crafts), Grow (crafts related to the outdoor world), and Gather (projects that bring friends and family together in an atmosphere where creativity and cosiness trump fancy courses and matching silverware).
The project list includes paint-chip postcards, decoupage coasters, an appliqued tablecloth, a willow chandelier, a tea towel apron, and herbal salves.
"Like Weekend Knitting and Weekend Sewing, Weekend Handmade" places crafting within the context of a casual, creative lifestyle.
