The Creative Shopkeeper | Lucy Johnston

Despite many predictions that the internet and e-commerce would kill the high street, independent retail is far from dead.
While big-chain high-street retailers have suffered through lack of originality and crippling overheads, new independent retailers are rapidly growing in number and rejuvenating neighbourhoods across the world.
Flexible, energizing pop-up shops are becoming an increasingly popular and effective strategy not only for new businesses but also now for established brands.
To catch the attention of busy customers passing by and build an engaging shopping environment that stands out from the competition, the savvy shopkeeper needs to get creative – and it needn’t cost the earth.
This timely book features beautiful independent retail spaces from around the world.
It is a much-needed sourcebook for the new breed of shopkeepers who aspire to make their presence felt on our streets and who need ideas, tips and inspiration to help them create a stand-out shop.
Organized by themes, the book presents a dazzling spectrum of case studies and highly imaginative solutions for this increasingly popular area of design.
